Alan Whitfield Blinc Artist of the Day!
Alan Whitfield is our Artist of the day today.Last year he created the poetic verse as part of his projection with Photernative.
This year he wanted to create a series of semi autobiographical poems about someone developing a love for the
walls inside Conwy. The viewer is encouraged to engage with a series of light and sound scapes in homage to film noir era.
The focus of his piece will be on The Cob in Conwy and will consist of a series of sound showers. He aims to encourage the viewer to record their response through the use of social media #noirconwy whilst engaging with his words. It’s an interactive piece, so make sure you don’t miss it!

Wendy Dawson @ blinc
Wendy Dawson
Wendy Leah Dawson is a metal artist whose work is inspired by antiquity, mechanisms, and the human urge to invent. Objects are dismantled, studied and dissected, pieces are removed and categorised, recreated and incorporated into other objects. Her work brings together traditional craft skills, influenced by her upbringing amidst the family trades of clockmaking and dressmaking, and the application of modern technology seen in rapid prototyping, 3D scanning and the use of digital tools in the creative process. She was recently introduced 3D stop-motion animation and projection, which has transformed her working practice, introducing thoughts about interactivity and visualising movement, and is currently exploring the manipulation and recording of her work using these processes.
Wendy's work with the bees looks really exciting! Make sure you see the link above for full details on the artists taking part this year.
Chris Bird & Viv Rickman-Poole @ blinc
Chris Bird & Viv Rickman-Poole
Artists Chris Bird and Vivienne Rickman Poole have embarked on a collaborative film
project that aims to reveal some of what draws them to the adventure of swimming
across deep open water in wild places.
The lakes, rivers and coastal areas of Conwy have long been a source of both recreation
and artistic inspiration for both Chris and Viv
They explore the abstract, multi-sensory and physical experience of swimming. It can be
both a harsh struggle with the elements and a serene and ethereal experience, unique to
time and place.
Chris and Viv from Ffoto Alternative are pleased to be working together again on this years Blinc festival... It's going to be very exciting with so many members involved!
